Isuzu No More - Isuzu would stop selling new cars in the United States from January 31, 2009
Just like Ford, Isuzu is headed for the big downfall. Ford is hanging tough in its debt and business management battle. Isuzu, on the other hand, just called it quits.
Isuzu declared just now, Monday, February 4, 2008 that it would stop selling new cars bearing the Isuzu brand in the United States effective January 31, 2009. Currently, Isuzu has 201 dealers operating in and around the U.S. It was reported that the company gave all their dealers a one-year deadline to clear out their inventories and sell every piece of Isuzu car they have in their showrooms as much as they can.
Most of the Isuzu cars included the dealers’ inventory list are the small I-series pick-ups and the five-seat Ascenders. Isuzu also declared that it would loan some $4 billion to completely cease its operation in the U.S. Whether the company would shift and focus operations elsewhere or would close down entirely is yet to be announced.
