Moving All Over the City With a Ford

A Ford is a good, reliable companion on the road. And who doesn’t know Henry Ford, the man who started it all? Henry Ford almost single handedly hauled this company in 1903 with only $28,000 in tow. And that wasn’t his money even. It was money pooled from 12 investors, including the Dodge brothers, who would go on later to construct their own breed of cars, the Dodge.

Henry Ford

Henry Ford must have done everything right. Because his company went on to become the third best automaker in the U.S. in 2007. Its headquarters is currently in Dearborn, Michigan, which amassed some $160 billion worth of revenues in 2006.

Right now, Ford had take in most of the best brands in the car industry, including Lincoln, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, and Mercury. They even have interests over Mazda. Ford has more than 245,000 employees all over its 100 facilities and plants worldwide.

Ford creates quality, cost effective vehicles. They are the pioneers of the alternate fuel cars that use batteries as well as petrol. Examples of these vehicles are the Ford F-150, Ford Ranger, and the Ford Explorer.

Ford has participated in auto racing as well. They have cars on the NASCAR series. They are also involved in Formula One races and are active in the World Rally Championship series since 1973. Ford’s Sports cars and touring cars have been one of the most admired vehicles in the racetrack ever since.

When Ford started in 1908, it had made trucks and pickups built for the long haul. However, their truck line was sold to Freightliner in 1997. Freightliner is now part of another car giant, Daimler Chrysler. Currently, Ford is still making medium-class truck via the F-750 and the F-650 models.
Ford Model T. Between 1908 and 1927, Ford built 15 million Model Ts.
Buses and tractors were also a part of the Ford family of vehicles as well. They’ve got commercial buses, school buses, suburban buses, and transit buses. As for tractors, they’ve got the Fordson tractors, which existed way back 1907.

Ford’s most current sedans and family cars include the Lynx, Focus, Fusion, Taurus, Edge, and Mustang. Their roster of SUV’s includes the Explorer, Explorer Sportac, Escape, Escape Hybrid, and F-150. These consumer vehicles are known to provide optimum security and comfort to its users.

However, turmoil is plaguing Ford these days. If Henry Ford is still alive, he must be at the edge of his seat looking for a solution to their full year net loss of $2.7 billion in 2007. While they registered some $173.9 billion worth of revenue, that apparently isn’t enough to keep their neck over the waters. In 2006, their loss was an astounding $9.9 billion. Their financial measures might have seemed to work somehow as they were able to slash more than $7 billion from it. Ford’s debt is a recurring challenge to the company’s present-day executives.
