Your Personal Salesperson, The Used Car Window Sticker

Are you selling a used car? Maybe you are finally parting ways with your old trusty warhorse. Or maybe you just purchased a new vehicle, which rendered your relatively new and desirable car expendable. Whatever the case, you certainly want to make as much money from that sale as you can. You want to employ whatever means necessary, within your budget of course, to get the best deal you can.

The first, and most important, thing that you should do before you put that car out by the road is to purchase a professional-looking window sticker. Now, you may be thinking, “Aren’t window stickers for professional dealerships?” Well, yes they are, but they are also for you.

Why do you think professional dealerships use window stickers? It is certainly not because they are good looking. They don’t enhance the appearance of the car, or make it look shiny. They don’t increase the horsepower or improve the safety rating of the vehicle.

They simply work. Window stickers are amazing salespeople. In fact, selling a car (even in your backyard) without a window sticker is like going on a road trip without gas: you are not going to get far.

First things first. You are probably asking yourself, “Okay, but if window stickers are so effective for dealerships, they are probably too expensive for me, right?”

This time, you are mistaken. Window stickers are remarkably inexpensive, even if you are only buying one. And you can usually design them in any way you want, with whatever information you want to display. Most importantly, the profit that will result from using a professional window sticker makes it well worth the cost.

Just in case you are still skeptical, let’s discuss how a window sticker will help you.

Let’s say someone driving by your house at 2 o’clock in the morning notices your car and decides to stop for a look. If that person came knocking on your door to get some more information, you probably would not be too happy, would you? You would probably be irritated enough that you would be uncooperative and lose the sale.

With a window sticker, this is not an issue. That prospective buyer will not need to come to your door, because all the information they need is right there, stuck to the window. The window sticker acts as your 24-hour a day, 7-day a week personal salesperson. And you don’t have to give it a portion of the profit, either.

In addition, you will get more prospective buyers with a window sticker. A car shopper who in not comfortable dealing directly with the seller will still take a look at a car with a sticker. If they are interested, they will feel much more comfortable calling you (make sure your number is on the sticker, of course.) You might sell your car to someone who would not have otherwise been interested.

As an amateur dealer, you need every edge you can get. Using a window sticker is the best advantage you can possibly hope for. Take advantage of it.
